Botanical Description: Tectona grandis, is a large, tall tree that can reach heights of 30 to 40 meters (100 to 130 feet) under ideal conditions, with a trunk diameter of up to 2 meters (6.5 feet). The tree has a broad, domed crown that provides extensive shade, making it a dominant feature in the landscapes where it grows. Leaves are large, simple, and opposite. They are broadly ovate with a pointed tip and can be quite large, often measuring 30 to 60 cm (12 to 24 inches) in length. Texture: The leaves are rough and hairy on both surfaces, contributing to their distinctive feel. They display a lush green color that turns to a tawny, russet shade before shedding, which happens in the dry season. The small, fragrant white flowers are borne on large, branched panicles at the ends of branches. Each flower is subtle and not particularly showy, but the clusters can be quite extensive, covering the tree in a blanket of white during the flowering season. Produces small, rounded, papery fruits known as drupes. These fruits contain one or two seeds and are enclosed in a hard, woody shell covered by a thin, dry husk.
