Botanical Description: Pentodon pentandrus typically grows as a small shrub or herbaceous plant. It can reach up to 1.5 meters in height, depending on environmental conditions. The stems are erect and may be covered with fine hairs, giving them a slightly rough texture. The leaves of Pentodon pentandrus are simple, opposite, and usually heart-shaped or ovate. They feature a smooth edge and can be quite large compared to the overall size of the plant. The broad leaves are adapted to capture sufficient sunlight, which is crucial for photosynthesis, especially under the canopy of tropical forests where light is diffused. The flowers are small, with a bell-like shape and usually white or pale yellow. They are typically clustered at the stem tips or in the leaf axils. The fruit is a small capsule that contains numerous tiny seeds.
Flowering/Fruiting: Flowering from March to May and another from September to November.
Plant Uses: Traditional Medicine, Livestock Forage and Ornamental Use.
