  • Botanical Description: Markhamia tomentosa is a deciduous tree that typically grows to a height of 7-15 meters (23-49 feet), although it can reach up to 20 meters (65 feet) under ideal conditions. The tree has a slender, upright growth form with a single main trunk and a fairly open canopy. The leaves are compound, usually with five leaflets, though occasionally there can be three or seven. Each leaflet is long and narrow, with a pointed tip. The leaves are slightly hairy, which gives them a somewhat rough texture. They are a vibrant green color that adds to the tree's visual appeal. The flowers of Markhamia tomentosa are large, showy, and trumpet-shaped, typical of many members of the Bignoniaceae family. They are usually bright yellow with reddish or orange markings inside, making them quite conspicuous when the tree is in bloom.
