Botanical Description: Emilia praetermissa shares some characteristics with other members of the Emilia genus: It is an herbaceous plant, usually growing with a slender, erect stem that may reach various heights depending on environmental conditions. The leaves of Emilia praetermissa are typically simple, alternate, and can vary in shape from lanceolate to broadly ovate, often with a slightly toothed margin. The flower heads are borne singly at the ends of long peduncles, similar to Emilia coccinea. The flowers of Emilia praetermissa can vary in color but are often not as brightly colored as those of Emilia coccinea. They are generally composed of disk florets surrounded by a few ray florets. Like other species in the Asteraceae family, it produces achenes that are small, dry, and typically one-seeded, which are adapted for wind dispersal.
