  • Botanical Description: Diodia scandens, commonly known as Virginia buttonweed, is a low-growing perennial herbaceous plant. It has opposite, elliptical leaves that are dark green and smooth. The small white flowers appear in clusters at the leaf axils, and the fruit is a small capsule containing seeds. Virginia buttonweed often forms dense mats in lawns and disturbed areas, and it can be considered a weed in turfgrass management.
