  • Botanical Description: Cyperus difformis is an annual herbaceous plant. It typically grows in clumps and can reach heights of 10 to 60 cm. The stems are erect, slender, and triangular in cross-section. They are smooth and often green in color. The leaves are linear, grass-like, and usually shorter than the stems. They are arranged in a basal rosette and can be up to 15 cm long. The leaf sheaths are closed. The plant produces small, inconspicuous flowers that are grouped in spikelets. These spikelets are arranged in compound umbels, which are characteristic of the genus Cyperus. Each spikelet contains numerous tiny flowers. The fruit is a small, dry achene (a type of simple seed) that is typically brown or black when mature.
