Botanical Description: Canna indica is a perennial plant that typically grows to a height of 0.5 to 2.5 meters (1.6 to 8.2 feet), forming clumps from a rhizomatous root system. The plant has a reed-like structure, with stems sheathed in large paddle-shaped leaves. The leaves are broad and flat, typically green, but some cultivars may have maroon, bronze, or variegated leaves. They are glossy and can be quite striking, adding to the visual appeal of the plant. The flowers of Canna indica are large and showy, resembling those of the iris family. They can be red, orange, or yellow, often with spots or variegations. Canna indica seeds are small, hard, and black, resembling shotgun pellets, which is why the common name is "Indian shot."
Flowering/Fruiting: Flowering period is usually from June to September.
